Tornado, Torn-ah-do!

It's getting to be that time of year again. Tornado season. I love storms, and truthfully I actually get a little excited when we are supposed to have a good one. However, I am naturally not as big a fan of the nasty side effects of a good southern storm. You know, hail, tornadoes, floods. Fun stuff like that.

This year I've decided that we're making a grab and go tote for the fam, including the dogs. I may or may not have been watching a little too much Doomsday Preppers:) Thus far I have gotten new harnesses for the dogs, water, bowls, shelf stable snacks (for us, hah), a few extra flashlights and a radio. Thus far we haven't needed my tote but tonight we're slated for some NASTY weather.

With that in mind I have added a few essentials to my storm prep list. I have a route 44 Diet Coke with lime sitting at my elbow.

I have sufficiently tortured the cats by stuffing both of them into the same carrier. We have a tornado shelter! I forgot to mention that! But it is at the back of our yard and if I'm being completely truthful (and I am) it is eerily similar to the one in Twister! I'm not taking any chances with my furry loves so into the crate for the cats.

I've got my fave Nora books on hand for some light reading during the craziness.

I've actually pulled the new harnesses for the pups out of the tote and squeezed them into them. My golden retrievers' fit nicely. I am almost positive that my poor black lab is losing circulation as we speak! Apparently I under estimated how big she has gotten. All three of them are completely confused as to why they are wearing them and they keep going to the door asking to go out for a walk. Sadly, the only walk we'll get tonight is one to the shelter if need be.

I've also pulled out the trusty old flashlight. Obviously I'll need to it see if the electricity goes out. More importantly, I'll need it to read my books!

All in all I am pretty prepared for our imminent storm. If I am forced to drag us all out to the shelter, I am sure that we will come out the other side slightly insane from the barking and meowing. I might actually be insane before we get to the shelter at this rate!

Either way we're ready and my Doomsday urges have been satisfied for now.

New Year, New Loves

So when I said I'd be back in 2012 I really didn't intend for it to be almost March when I blogged again! Where did time go?

It's Spring, almost Easter and Valentine's Day flew by almost without even being recognized! However good things have been happening in all this chaos.

Two of my current favorite good things are my new full set of vintage Pyrex and my new Emersonmade jeans. I am officially in a blissful state of delirium over them. I have been wanting a pair since Emerson released her clothing line... At least a year ago! They're mine now and I have to say I will probably never be wearing any other jeans. I am a convert, a believer, a lover of all things Emersonmade and to my hubby's dismay my monthly clothes budget is in need of a growth spurt to support my need of Emerson's line:)

The Pyrex just makes me smile. It's pink after all and glass so I don't have to worry about storing our food in
Plastic (which I completely obsess over). I was helping my BFF pack and she mentioned needing to get rid of "that pink stuff" because she got it in a lot at a garage sale and she never used it. You better believe I jumped on it and took it home before she had an epiphany and changed her mind!

All in all life is moving along at a break neck pace; but we're enjoying every second and celebrating as much as we can along the way with little treasures and loves!

Happy New Years Eve! Do you have big plans? Or are you like me and enjoying the festivities from afar? We're holed up in the house with the heater on, relishing the last night of Christmas lights.

However, if we were going out I would most definitely be wearing these pants! They're so festive and perfect for a night out on the town!

JBrand Knock Offs

All the leftover deals from Thanksgiving that have been going on lately have led to some great shopping as far as I'm concerned! As we all know I love the colored denim trend. I probably have way too many pairs but there are so many fun colors out right now that they are hard to resist.
Target has these two options and I couldn't help myself, I bought both. They are almost a dead ringer for the JBrand jeggings/skinny jeans. Love them! They run super small though as a warning. Kind of a hit to the ego:) I already have red jeans but they are men's and fit more in the boyfriend range rather than skinny jeans range. At twenty dollars a pop these Target versions are perfect; especially if you want to try out a trend but don't want to drop the major bucks for the real thing! Go get some! You'll love them, promise!

Mine!

As if I don't have enough boots, I totally had to make these mine too. They're on sale at Anthro; seventy dollars off. That and the fact that they are literally the most comfortable boots I have ever put on made them a must have! If you're in the market for some new boots for this season these are them! They also have a brown version but something about these just sings to me:)
