All the leftover deals from Thanksgiving that have been going on lately have led to some great shopping as far as I'm concerned! As we all know I love the colored denim trend. I probably have way too many pairs but there are so many fun colors out right now that they are hard to resist.
Target has these two options and I couldn't help myself, I bought both. They are almost a dead ringer for the JBrand jeggings/skinny jeans. Love them! They run super small though as a warning. Kind of a hit to the ego:) I already have red jeans but they are men's and fit more in the boyfriend range rather than skinny jeans range. At twenty dollars a pop these Target versions are perfect; especially if you want to try out a trend but don't want to drop the major bucks for the real thing! Go get some! You'll love them, promise!

As if I don't have enough boots, I totally had to make these mine too. They're on sale at Anthro; seventy dollars off. That and the fact that they are literally the most comfortable boots I have ever put on made them a must have! If you're in the market for some new boots for this season these are them! They also have a brown version but something about these just sings to me:)

This stuff right here is amazing! Just thought I'd throw that out there. I love it. Usually I am not a fan of any type of self tanner. I turn orange...it's my Irish skin. We don't do self tanning, or regular tanning for that matter. It just doesn't happen. But a friend of mine was using this and I, ever the optimist, decided to give it a try. I've been using it for two weeks now and I can officially say that it is great! :)

Bath and Body Works used to make a lotion with self tanner in it that I loved. It came in a few of their different scents and it was super gradual so there was no chance of messing up. Of course, they discontinued it. Story of my life. Since then I have been hunting for something to give me a little natural looking color. Nivea came through for me! I bought mine at Target. Go and get some! It really is wonderful:)

Littles in the Fall

Ok I'm back with my faves for my girl and for little boys too:) If I love dressing myself for Fall I am totally head over heals for dressing my sweet girl for Fall. I of course had to include the Texas shirt because every Saturday during football season we have on some form of burnt orange. This one is from Old Navy. They have the cutest line of sports team shirts! Love em!

If she's not decked out in burnt orange we usually run to tunics and dresses with leggings or skinny jeans. This tunic is also from Old Navy and it comes in a few different colors. I love Old Navy and Gap for littles because you can get super classy and cute clothes for a reasonable price. We are also HUGE Target shoppers:)

Another essential is the jacket. Cool mornings always require a jacket in our house. This is another one from Old Navy and it is gender neutral. This is another of my favorite tricks. I swear half of my daughter's wardrobe is from the boy's section. Mostly I like to buy their button downs and sweaters, sometimes jackets too. They have such cute plaid, denim and checked button downs. Way better selection than the girl's side.

This sweater is another from...you guesses it...Old Navy:) Love the toggles. She will wear this instead of a jacket many times if it isn't too cold out. I like to layer her clothes just like mine. It is always important to have choices as far as warmth etc.

Now this sweater is a complete splurge from Crew Cuts. It's a girl's popover sweater and I love it so much! I haven't ordered it yet but I think I might have to. It's a wool blend so it's not too itchy and it is tunic length. A good sweater or two are essential to both boy's and girl's Fall wardrobe if I do say so myself.

Ahh the Denim shirt. This one is Crew Cuts and I love it. My girl wears her all the time. This is a boy's shirt so the cut is a bit looser and it is perfect with leggings.

This is another boy's button down from Crew Cuts. I love the checks! I have the light gray version. This with skinny jeans is so cute. We add a cardigan if it is cooler outside.

These dresses are both from Old Navy. Love the ruffles and the fact that they are long sleeved so they can stand on their own if need be.

Leggings! These are from Gap. I love having them in black and brown at least for my girl. I also like pink and white too. She wears these out every Fall/Winter!

Good jeans are a must too. These are boy's. They're lined though, which is hard to find in girl's jeans. I like the slouchy fit of these.

However, these are our favorite! The Gap skinny jeans. They're extra soft and they fit perfectly.

For footwear we go for boots or ballet flats. Love these Uggs! So soft and warm and the tan or chestnut go with most anything.

She also wears her Toms a ton! They are easy for her to put on and easy for me to wash and keep looking nice.:)

Lastly, she is sadly outgrowing these but I still love them. Moccasins from Freshly Picked. SO soft and good for their feet. You can't go wrong!

So there you have it! My picks for fall for the littles too. I have so much fun finding unique things for my girl to wear. She is somewhat of a fashionista so we both enjoy shopping for Fall essentials!

We are planning on putting them to use this weekend too with a few different outdoor activities:) Happy almost Friday!

It's officially time for fall fashion! Yes! I am so excited that the weather has (for now) gotten cooler and I can pull out my cardigans and layer away without feeling like I am going to have a heat stroke. So without further adieu here is my favorite line up for this Fall...

First up: Cardigans of course! All of these are from Forever 21 and I love them! What can I say?

I love the chunky yet flowy-ness of this one!

and the total grandpa qualities of this one; elbow patches and everything!

This one is just wonderful! It sort of looks like a Missoni but it's a lot more affordable:) Its got that ethnic/tribal thing going for it!

Now on to jeans. I have been obsessed with skinny jeans for oh I don't know, forever!I love them! I have a hard time wearing regular jeans now. I can go straight leg but that's about it! My new favorites in my jean line up are the deep green jeans that I got from Anthro a few weeks ago. I blogged about them. But these below are a pretty good second choice and they're a bit cheaper!
All of these jeans are from Forever 21 too. They actually have pretty good denim!
(Colored jeans are so hot right now btw)

I might have to buy these. I just bought some burnt orange slacks from F21 but these jeans look like they need to be mine too! With a Hubby that goes to The University of Texas one can never have too much burnt orange in their closet!

Ahh, red jeans. Love 'em! I bought mine last year and I still love them. I actually got mine in the men's section at Hot Topic! Hah! They're slouchy and have that boyfriend look going for them. I love the look of the true skinnies though!

Now on to accessories.

I am in love with this clutch! A plus...it's only 45 dollars until the end of this week! Yes! Although its original sixty dollar price tag isn't too bad either:)

Oh and these boots. I am still obsessed. I actually like the black pair better but I couldn't find a picture with good detail of the black pair! These guys have been on my list for a year and I still haven't bought them...maybe this year!

Oops...this is in the wrong spot but whatever! I need this. Madewell is by far one of my favorite spots to shop! They have this in pink too and I could do either one! It's on my Christmas list for sure! I mean polka dots, seriously?

This little guy is from Fred Flare! At only 25 dollars, it shall be mine! I love the quirky zebra print and the vibrant red! Be still my heart! Scarves are a must have for Fall and they transition so well into winter!

Ahh Kendra Scott. She has a store on South Congress in ATX and I can't go in. We wouldn't have a house or cars because I would spend the payments on her jewelry. OK I'm kidding. But I do seriously love her stuff, especially these earrings! I could have them in every color! (And there are a ton)

Then we have Warby Parker's sunglasses. I am in dire need of a new pair. My current shades are so scratched it's not even funny! These fit the bill. I am in the process of ordering new glasses from them too. They're like the TOMS of eye-ware. Buy one, give one!

Last, but not least is this bag from Madewell. Agh! It's so stinking cool! Big enough to tote around a million things and still look stylish! Plus you can wear it cross body! This is another one on my list of must haves in my life. Just look at it!

Oh and this is a little extra. It's from Freshly Picked (she makes the cutest moccasins for children). No it's not Fall fashion but it is totally a must have! Peach and gold leather mouse pad? Yes please!

So there you have it. My must haves for Fall. Here in Texas they transition well into Winter too. I am, at this moment, wearing a good portion of what I just showed you and I am oh SO pleased with it:) It's about 45 degrees outside and if the neighbors didn't think I was crazy already I would run around outside singing;) Best not to though...I don't want to get into trouble. For me it is at least! It's that time of year where I start to plan out Christmas and all the gifts we have to buy. I have a five dollar limit you know. Not for my hubby and sweet girl but for everyone else. We have huge families...like 10 or more presents to buy on each side! That's a lot. It gets expensive. So last year I decided to challenge myself and see if I could keep extended family gift buying down to five dollars a person. It was actually fun to try and find small, meaningful gifts for everyone. I made a lot of them. But to me that made them even better:) Don't tell me homemade gifts are cheesy please! Let me live in my happy, oblivious bubble of contentment:) With all of that said, I am once again rounding up ideas for my five dollar gifting. Lots of these are homemade. All of them are on my pinterest. Some of them aren't homemade but they could be which is what I plan to do:)

Up first we have these adorable bangles! I can see going to F21 and getting a set of gold bangles, wrapping them in embroidery thread and calling it done:) So cute and if you split up the set of bangles you could get a two for one!

Next is the etched Pyrex. Or just etching in general but I love the Pyrex idea. Head to Salvation Army or Goodwill, they always have these on hand. Or if you're a big spender you can buy them new at an actual store:)

These scrubs...so easy and yummy. I don't know a single person who wouldn't want one!

I bet this one smells soooo yummy! Such pampering with so little cost. Make my day!

Love these trays! They're versatile and so darn cute!

These kill me. I love chicken wire, and old frames! Again garage sales, or Salvation Army or Goodwill would be the place to pick them up!

Ok here is the part of the program where I stop being cheap and start listing things that can be bought...for a small price:) I love this blanket and it is definitely on my Christmas list! The yellow is all about me! I can just see myself all curled up with it and a good book and a pumpkin spice latte! Ah the dreams!

This guy is on the hubby's list. He doesn't know it but it is. I think it is so cool!

Ahh and last we have this mason jar drink dispenser. I need it. Really...my life is incomplete without it! Ok not really. But I do really love it. It's seventy dollars but I think I would go without food for a bit to make it mine:) It too resides on my own personal Christmas list.

So, that wraps up my list for now. We'll see how far I can get into making things early so I'm not crazy come Christmas time. I am woefully lacking in homemade man gifts. The boys in my family will likely get flashlights...or um...food? Hah! I need to sit and think about something a little more interesting for them!

For now I am going to work on the other stuff and hope that inspiration strikes!

I am totally loving these adorable plush, velvety pumpkins! They look so real and would be a blast to decorate with:) I may or may not have started my Fall/Halloween decorating this week!
We finally have cool mornings to wake up to so who could blame me right? Fall is by far my favorite season and in Texas I have to stretch it out as long as possible since we basically have two seasons here, winter and summer:)
So here I am with all my windows thrown open in the morning to let in the cool air and then tightly closed in the afternoons to keep the heat out! Fall in the mornings and Summer in the afternoons. Either way we are ready! We have pumpkins out, candles burning and football on TV!

Holy Cow. That's all I have to say about this. It's the best thing since sliced bread, and light bulbs and all other things that we really can't live without! Valerie has been talking about it for awhile and I finally found it in my local Natural Grocers...I will now be sending all of my money directly to Noosa and they will in return, be sending me that value in yogurt:) Ok just kidding but it is super good. Like, unbelievably good. Oh, and it's good for you at 140 calories and 6 grams of fat per serving. This stuff is dangerous! It's like Crack!:)

That's my favorite comparison by the way. If something is addictingly good then I immediately refer to it as crack. It is up to my sweet hubs to figure out which form of crack I am referring to at the moment as it changes almost daily. I think I'm a secret foodie. Although since I just admitted it I guess the secret's out!

Whatever. Off topic! Go buy some Noosa and fall in love! I will be eating mine for breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks too!

Oh and one last plus...only  $1.95 a tub! That means my crack is CHEAP too! ;)

In our house, we have officially begun the countdown to college football! College Football Live is officially back on our TV schedule, and I am already planning tailgating food/fun! Can't wait! We take our football very seriously here, and with a pitiful season like we had last year we have much to look forward to this season (I hope!)I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they start my preferred quarterback this year rather than using him as a back up:)

I am also planning on ordering this beauty from TruColors! Love it! So darn cute and perfect for game day. Although I think that I will sadly be wearing shorts and a Nike Tee for the first game or two unless my dreams of a cool September come true! Even at six o'clock kickoff for game one there is the potential for 100 degree heat! Not sure I want to subject that pretty dress to such icky conditions:)

Either way I am SO ready for football season!

I would be all over this outfit! I am counting down the days this month and waiting anxiously for September! I have convinced myself that September is going to be our magic month for cooler weather:) My sweet husband is going along with this (I think to ensure that I don't lose my mind in this heat!). The only sort of positive thing about this hot summer is the fact that indoor play is the only way to go unless you're at the pool. This means lots of dress up, tea parties, painting and coloring with my girl. That is most definitely a positive in my book.

Speaking of my girl, this Monday she had surgery for an umbilical hernia. She's bouncing back like a champ and is, I think, thoroughly enjoying the pampering that she is getting! She has been encamped on the couch playing with the Ipad and is coloring pictures faster than I can find places to display them:) All in all, it's an ok way to spend this first week of August!

Oh and my outfit up there...I would have to do a bit of substitution, seeing as my little budget doesn't leave room for such purchases as a 1,300 dollar sweater;)

Yikes! I looked back on my posts this month and they have been decidedly serious! Which I guess is appropriate with the circumstances but still! One can only take so much:) So on that note I thought a Loves post was in order!

Next...feathers! I have a magenta one and I adore it! It shocks people in our conservative little town but it is SO fun! I actually like the natural ones a ton too! I might have to get another one when this one comes out. The natural look could be perfect for Fall...if it ever gets here!

These sunglasses kill me! I want them now! I think they're going on my Christmas list for the hubby (to buy me); although he might get some too! Or maybe, I'll buy him some and then borrow them! ;)

Lastly, this skirt from Forever21. I found it online and I think I am going to have to go to our store tomorrow and see if I can make it mine. For a little over thirteen dollars it is totally worth it! Love it!

Ahh...my blog feels happier already with all that love going around!

One thing I am not loving is this heat! We are currently on day 20 (in a row) of over 100 degree weather. Texas is hot but this is just ridiculous! I always start the Summer out ready for the heavy heat and then by the time Fall comes I am ready for that. I try to enjoy all that summer brings us but this summer it is NOT working! All I want to do is stay inside in fear of melting:)
A plus though...it's almost like a clarifying steam facial when you walk outside...almost!

One more random thought...in less than a week my baby will be four! How did that happen? I think a recap of her last four years is a must:)

I've been wanting a coffee table like this one for what feels like forever! I love the contrast of a semi-industrial looking base with the wood and marble tops I have seen them with!
Problem is, I haven't found one that I like and that I can reasonably afford. Which brings me to this...

Could the coffee table above be diy'd like these bookshelves? Another favorite of mine and something that I have the long term goal of adding to our living room?

Laura at Ascot Friday also made some of these shelves and I love both versions. But I digress!
I think it could be done. Same materials and possible pallet wood for the top? Or maybe if you're really lucky and can find a small remnant of marble, you could build the base to fit? I'm sold! Now I just have to convince my hubby that this is our next project:)

We have a summer wedding to go to this weekend.  I thought I had a dress picked out but these are making me second guess my choice:) There are a ton of beautiful dresses and tops and a pair of lace shorts that caught my eye! Most of them are pretty reasonably priced too! I might have to order one and put a rush on it!

Here she is! In all her glory! I had been looking for a lamp for this spot for what feels like forever! The hubby even bought a set at Ikea thinking I would stop the search once something was lighting up that corner. Not so much. I was not a huge fan of the Ikea lamps, but I humored my hubby and lived with them grudgingly for about six months. Until, in a freak accident, the cat knocked over my Keep Calm and Carry On print, which in turn knocked over the book stack, which then took the lamps to the floor. (They were rectangular boxes made of frosted glass, lest you think I had two table lamps in the same spot:)) The largest one shattered and took a nice chunk out of my hard wood in the process. It was then that I decided the remaining lamp was out!
I resumed hunting in all my favorite thrift stores to no avail. Then one morning I headed into the Re-Store to poke around and there she was. All dusty and grubby. The five dollar price tag sold me! I took her home and scrubbed her up and there she sat for another few weeks as I looked for a lamp shade. In case you're not seeing a trend here I am not one to pay full price for much of anything. So, long story...long, I found a lamp shade at Target that had gone to thirty percent off. Its trim matched my lamp perfectly...and they lived happily ever after (on my free Craig's list dresser). I am one happy girl now that the other lamps are gone and my blue beauty has taken their place!

In other news, I want to paint my desk like the one above! I am enamored with the peacock blue. (Ok I am sensing a peacock trend in my posts today! What's my deal?) Anyway, its black right now and I am tired of it. I just refinished my filing cabinet and it looks shockingly similar to the one in the picture. Promise I hadn't seen this picture when I did it. I have been feeling like the black desk is looking a big worn and it is a bit too monochromatic with the gray walls, the stainless filing cabinet and the black accents in here. I might have to run down to the store and see what sort of colors I can come up with that will work in here:)

Chenille...for real!

I've decided to re-do Ava Kate's room...again:) I can't help myself. I've obviously not gotten it right yet or I would leave it alone! I started looking for chenille bedspreads on Ebay today to see if there were any that would work for her bed. I am of course wanting something that is under my limited budget and I probably want white. But...look at these beauties that I came across. They are not at all what I set out to find but I LOVE them! I have never seen chenille in such beautiful colors and my heart pretty much stopped when I saw the peacocks. Apparently that is a pretty popular pattern because there are multiple listings on Ebay but they're all well out of my price range. Popular=expensive:) But looking is free and I spent about an hour today doing just that! Now you can look for free too! If your price range is higher than mine you can even make one of these yours. I just searched for chenille bedspreads and there were seven pages of loveliness!

In other news, I got a lamp shade for my five dollar thrifted lamp and as soon as my camera battery charges I am ready to show it off! I love it!

Why is this making me laugh so hard? I love when commercials are so stupid that they become funny. This totally falls into that category. Kind of like the Swagger Waggon Toyota Sienna Minivan music video. What? You haven't seen that one? I'm not linking it...I feel like a loser with all of this commercial love. But if you search for it on Youtube you'll thank me...maybe. If you don't decide I'm a big, bored goofball first!
I promise to come up with something more interesting to post later today. Like the new five dollar lamp I got for my living room, or maybe those long lost slip n slide pictures of my girl.
Only time will tell which of these will catch and hold my interest long enough for me to grace you with their presence:)

I had a fun post planned today. In fact I've been working on it ALL day. Literally. I have been editing pictures all day and I cannot get them to upload:( I have tried a million different ways and I am succumbing to defeat. I was all ready to bask in the joys of summer and slip&slides and popsicles and the park and...my list goes on and on but my pictures do not.

I refuse to write my summer post without pictures so instead, I am complaining:) We've been soaking up this summer heat like our lives depend on it and I hate that I can't even share it! But...there's always tomorrow! Remember a few posts ago when I was professing my love for the  acrylic trunk as a coffee table? I found one! It's almost four hundred dollars mind you so I didn't jump right in and buy it. But I found it, which is half the battle:) In case anyone else is is dying over the same trunk and has a spare four hundred to spend, here is the spot to go and make it yours!
Oh, and they make tons of other furniture in acrylic too! Just a little fyi to brighten your Thursday!

Ottoman

I'm thinking that for my memorial day project, I just might drag my washtub inside (emptying the dirt first!) and turn it into an ottoman! I love this idea and it certainly would be cheaper than the almost twelve hundred dollars it would cost to buy one!

I especially like the idea of using a laminated fabric for the top and making it either hinged or completely removable so that things could be stored inside!

Somehow, even though I knew it was coming, I am failing miserably at figuring out what to get this guy for our anniversary! I just can't think of anything meaningful, that he would actually want! The five year traditional gift is wood. Cool right? Except I can't seem to come up with anything that I like in that category that won't break the bank!
Ahh...only two more days! The pressure is on!

On a totally different note, I have been super inspired by these two new to me style blogs! Love them! Definitely makes me want to get up and pick out a wonderful, stylish outfit that makes me happy in the morning, rather than just throwing something on:) I am especially in love the the many different shades of nail polish these girls wear! So cute!

First I have to get this off my chest...I love this little girl's room! Love it! It doesn't hurt that she has a golden retriever. We have two and I adore them. They're hands down the best, most loyal dogs in the world and Ava Kate's sleeps with her every night:) Makes my heart happy! I also love the color combination in this room. Orange and blue together have been popping up everywhere and I am so on board with it! Oh, and that little lucite side table had me at hello. I have been all about lucite lately!

Which brings me to this chest. I l.o.v.e. it! I love that you can see the things that are stored inside...although you have to be a bit more organized with your storage. It is totally worth it! Such a cool, statement making piece! I think every house needs a piece that is lucite! That little dose of modern takes a room to a whole new level! One of my personal favorites are these chairs from Ikea. There was a Southern Living article a few months ago with a lovely little cottage that had been renovated in a pretty traditional design and she used these same chairs at her dining table and it looked amazing! I'll see if I can find the article so I can post it! Such a wonderful look!

I might have to add to my lucite collection with all this talk!

I can't believe that the weekend is finally here! Yay! I could not possibly be any more excited...beautiful weather and whole weekend to play! I saw these lovelies on Craigslist last night at about 10 and I am dying. I will be on the edge of my seat checking my e-mail every five minutes until I know if I can make them mine! Really! Little mini campaign chests? Be still my heart:)

These are just too cool for words. I feel like all I have posted lately are cool finds for Etsy but seriously. I love it! I could poke around all day on there if that didn't mean that I would be missing this lovely weekend! All of these clutches are made from reclaimed materials and I am in love. They're quite reasonable too! The one below is only 64$ which I think is not too bad:) Maybe I'm biased by my love for them! They have other fabrics besides leather too! I'm thinking that this is going to be my graduation gift to myself! hah! Oh and they are made by scout and catalogue!

Ok I love these! They're bracelets made from old or broken skate boards! Each one is different. They all have a side that they call the battle side that is the original paint from the board like you see in the first picture!The rest of the bracelet is sanded and sealed! I might have to make one mine just because! Such a neat idea:) Oh and they have rings and earrings, etc. too, I just love the bracelets. They're from a shop on Etsy called All Deckd Out. Soo...April was crazy! It seems May isn't going to be much better! But I'm still here and I have so many things to share! My camera won't sync with my computer though so all I have to show are pictures from my phone! Hence the horrible quality!
But I still wanted to post about this planter! I love it! Such neat lines! If you could find a pre-cut culvert I bet you wouldn't even have to do anything besides wrap the edges. It would definitely be a challenging project! But one I could totally get behind!

In other news our little town finally got a Jimmy Johns! It opened yesterday and I'm not going to lie we went as soon as they opened this morning. Had I realized that they opened yesterday I would have been beating the doors down then:) I love that place!

I have so many diy's to post it isn't funny and I am totally depressing myself posting phone pictures of a sandwich shop:( A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do I guess! The hubby is battling the computer as we speak so maybe tomorrow I can post a few of my new projects and stop settling for phone pics! Happy almost Monday:)

Random? Yes! Inspiring? Yes, Yes, Yes! Is it a bit nuts that I can take all of these things in a single sitting and run with them? Probably, but I so don't care! The house is in ATX, my favorite place in the world! I could live in that house...except it probably costs more than I'll make in my life time:) But hey, I can dream right? Its orange stripe and blue celinged porches are so darn cute!

The jewelry speaks for itself. Those shapes and the organic flow of it kill me! I love and I need all of them. Good thing they offer a set of three deal! Oh and they have a pretty sweet blog too!

The cup...what can I say. If I could figure out how to make one (or fifty) I would. They are that cool. Too bad they're sold out. I dabble in tie dying...but ceramic? Not so much! Maybe one day. But for now I can stare at it adoringly:)

Oh, oh, oh! I missed the lamp! How could I not give the lamp love? It appears I have a thing for those muted sort of marbled patterns! I must figure out how to do this to fabric! Silly lamp is mucho dinero for this girl so it's a no go! But I think fabric could work for me. Maybe! We did a bit of bleach tie dying the other day and it worked out marvelously and I have dip dyed a few things, so I think the next logical step is big girl tie dying with colors:) hah! We shall see. If I weren't infinitely lazy (code=cross eyed with exhaustion) I would put in the camera card and show off my bleach dyed shirt and dip dyed dreses. Buuut...not tonight. Or tomorrow...or Saturday. Maybe Sunday? Maybe!

For now, love on the beauties above and maybe go buy a bracelet. I promise I won't pitch a fit if you but the one I want! Unless you go buy the lamp..then don't tell me because I'll cry!

If I could be wearing this outfit right now I would be on it! I'm loving the colored denim trend that is happening! It makes me happy! I am also loving that gold is coming back. I love silver, and white gold but on certain things gold is totally the way to go.
I might possibly try and make a shirt similar to this one! With all my extra time...hah! This month is insane and it is only getting busier. But for today, I am ordering these jeans and enjoying this brief, quiet Saturday! If you need a pair too, or if you're loving the shirt or necklace, they're all from Hallelu. It's a wonderful little store in my old stomping grounds, hence the 910 necklace. (That's the area code there!) Oh and they have a wonderfully inspiring blog too!

Lately I have been on the hunt for the perfect red jeans. I am slightly obsessed! Sadly, they are hard to find! I am totally loving the J Brand version at the top there! They are a little out of my price range though! Or should I say out of the range that I would willingly spend right now! Not to worry though. I will either convince myself they are made for me and buy them or continue hunting red jeans down in every store I go to! Hopefully I will get them before they are totally lame and out of style! I love them for Spring with fun , flowy, possibly flowery shirts and flats. (Take that alliteration:)) Ahh, it makes me happy just thinking about it:)The outfit that is not the alliteration, although that makes me pretty happy too, to be perfectly honest!

On the other hand I am also loving the neutrals trend! I already have a few pairs of white jeans and I can't get enough of the taupe and sparkle combination above! Be still my heart! I'm thinking I should have red jeans outfits and white jeans outfits! That way I have options...if I'm feeling bubbly I go with a red jeans outfit. If I'm feeling mellow, it's white jeans all the way:) In fact I'm feeling white jeans tomorrow! We shall see!

This has got to be mine soon! I am obsessed with it! Really...I have been wanting to get a new camera for awhile. I have a wonderful little point and shoot (a pink one hah!) that I love but I want one that: obviously takes better quality pictures and one that I can use for bigger things like my baby girl's birthday shoots and such. This one has definitely caught my eye and has held on! It makes the others look so boring:) Anyone know about Pentax? They have pretty good reviews online but I don't know a single person who owns one!

My mom is a Nikon believer from way back so I am wondering if it is smart to veer away from that?

Ok...I LOVE this tiny little federal mirror! I just had to get that out there! I can't think of anything else in this picture until I point that out! Moving on...Laurel at Abode Love, as featured on Made by Girl, shared pictures of her house! I must say, she has talent! The three things I loved most though were obviously the tiny federal mirror mixed in with the photo wall. I am a huge, HUGE fan of photo walls that aren't all pictures, as silly as that sounds! I like the mixture of prints, photos, mirrors, deer heads, (What? No deer heads? Even the ones made of resin? I can't get over them...I still love them!) Anyway, a mix of things in a photo collage makes all the difference in interest level if you ask me!

I also love this! Which is a total contradiction to what I just said. But to me this is different! Sometimes people go all b&w and black frames and it can get a little funky to me if the pictures are all people and such. That's not to say that it isn't totally awesome in some cases...maybe this is a judge it when you see it thing? I think what draws me to this particular collage is the fact that the frames are a mix of vertical and horizontal, but it all works out to still be a square set. I like that! The interest is in the way the frames are hung and the pictures in them. Such a cool idea!

This last picture just floors me! I can't get over the seamless integration of the football print! This is by far the coolest man cave ever! In a girl's opinion:) I also like the subtle tiger hints like the pillow...so cute!

So that's whats inspiring me this week...that and this nice Spring weather we are having! I am quite ready for Spring and Summer this year! Happy Wednesday!

New View

I already posted about this nursery once and about how much I love it! The thing is, I only had the top picture to gush over! I have since found the bottom picture of the other side of the room and it is all I can do not to go into AvaKate's room, pull everything out and start over (again...for the third time...can you tell I like to change things up in there?) The thing is I have this issue with thinking I am loving something and committing to it and then changing my mind afterwords. It's a bad deal;) Although it keeps things hopping around here!
My hubby never comes home to the same set up for more than a week! I am always rearranging or adding or changing!

Ok wow this post totally went off topic here. I was talking about my love for this nursery! I think that what appeals most to me about it is that I can see taking this color scheme and the subtle hints of nature and applying it to a living room or a bedroom. It would work in any room in your house! That makes me happy! I am loving the gray and yellow these days anyway and I was thinking about using it in our bedroom. Navy blue and yellow is a possibility too, although not as subtle. This nursery definitely supports that plan either way!

I just finished watching this. It's crazy how much it puts things into perspective. They are such an inspiration and ultimately just a wonderful couple who are so in love! It makes me appreciate my love even more! There's no love that can rival a military love!
Go and watch it and be inspired. Bring tissues too because you'll cry all the way through! It's a good cry though...a proud cry:)

Teaching in Style

I have been really struggling with finding a balance between my own style and finding looks that are professional enough to wear to school. A lot of teachers are very casual. They wear cotton slacks and school t-shirts every day, or big baggy skirts and sweaters. Neither of these hold any appeal for me! But I know that my own style can tend to be more causal and laid back. I find that dresses/leggings/cardigans really work for me because I can still be me without looking unprofessional. Like I said in the last post, Toms are a lifesaver for me and the glitter variety seem to be a bit more fancy than the solid canvas ones that I love. I am also a huge fan of black ballet flats! Anyway, I am constantly searching for inspiration for outfits that I can make my own and make work for school. Lately I have fallen into a rut and I realize after I get to school that I don't even feel or look like myself because I just threw on something that matched and looked half way decent! I am vowing from now on to work harder at finding clothes that work for school and home and make me happy:) That's not too much to ask right?

Well it's official. Toms are my new favorite shoes to wear to school. I am on my feet all day and they are definitely the most comfortable shoes ever! I have four pairs and I am planning on making this glitter pair my fifth:) Kind of an addiction! But I don't feel nearly as guilty since I'm also buying a pair for a shoeless child!

Speaking of guilty have you seen Bob's? Really Sketcher's? A knockoff of a charitable organization? hmm...not too sure about that. I tried them on just to see and I have to say that while they look the same, they are not nearly as soft and comfortable as the real thing!
In other news we went on a family date night to Jason's tonight! I love that place and their muffalettas! I think I could eat there at least a few times a week! I never feel guilty about it either. Everything is organic and I get the turkey on my sandwich...it all balances out! Plus their children's plates are all organic which makes this momma happy! Of course just the family date night in itself makes me all warm and fuzzy! The food is a bonus!
One last and totally un-related to my un-related things is this crib sheet! Stephanie Sabbe is keeping us all updated on her nursery progress and I love the idea of using the same fabric for the sheet and the dust ruffle! She's going sans bumpers and I think this makes the crib look so seamless and classic! It would even look great on a regular bed!

Have a happy almost Wednesday. I might be back this weekend with a project or two...I have the whole weekend off to do as I please:)

This is about how I feel right now! I am SO glad that tomorrow is Friday!
This was after her first Disney Land trip by the way. If you look closely, that caramel apple is a Minnie Mouse, she also has Cheeze-Its and water by her side. Prior to going into a coma on the floor she was tearing around the room at top speed, screaming about Disney:)

I on the other hand am falling over from an exhaustion that has nothing to do with the carefree world of Disney! Mine's all about the real world:)

Sarah's House

I never got around to posting about Sarah's farmhouse when the actual show aired. I saw the re-run again tonight and was reminded once again how much I love her design style! Some of the things that she and Tommy do are just amazing! I LOVE them! They definitely prove that it is ok to: a) mix colors together in a cohesive color scheme and b) go with a simple palate as well as a colorful one! It's wonderful that you can find a bright colorful/cheerful bedroom and a bright/calm bathroom all in the same house:) Makes my day! It also makes me want to win the lottery so I can completely re-do my house with an unlimited budget, but we all know that won't happen so I have to settle for a little bit at a time!
What a wonderful thing to have to dream about tonight though! Yellows and grays, clawfoot tubs and marble!
They sure make me a happy girl!
Oh and you have to look hard up there because I'm too lazy to add the more close up picture but in the blue/gray bedroom she did drapes in two different patterns hung together! Love at first sight!

Ok so here is the promised list for my girl.

that she currently owns.
(they are SO last week:))

Is it funny that she is a mini fashionista and at three she has better style than many adults? She also has a definite opinion on what she will and will not wear!
So, if I were to go out and spend a few hundred dollars on Valentine's Day gifts for my smallest love these things would be what I brought home! The clippies are currently at the forefront of what will most certainly be purchased!
By the way, the doll on the left with the blonde hair, the tutu, the side part and a clippie will probabaly join the clippies in being purchased soon!

Valentines day is only a few short days away! How did that happen?
We'll probably celebrate it this weekend since Monday is a work day and it's never any fun to celebrate at work:)
I am planning on surprising my sweet hubby with something from the list above. Ok two things; the cookies and something else! The others will wait until Birthday and Anniversary time! I can't give all my good presents at once or I would be out of luck! He is hard to shop for sometimes so I have to stockpile ideas throughout the year to last me for all of the gift giving holidays:) the last picture is a really neat map! All the countries are like scratch offs and as you visit them you can scratch them off on the map and they are a different color! I love that idea and I would plan on only scratching off the places we've been together! Romantic right? I love it! I might have to save it for our anniversary!
Either way it is such a cute gift!

And not to worry...I'm working on a list for my baby girl too! She's definitely not getting left out:)

Current Loves...

Lately I've been all over the place. This is totally evident in what I am loving...for this week at least. These outfits scream Spring to me and I am SO ready for something other than icy winter:)
I especially love the fedora in this one. I have always thought fedoras were one of the best parts of the menswear movement in fashion and something about this woven one just makes me love it even more! The geometric pattern on the dress is wonderful as well...actually lets just go ahead and say that I love the entire outfit and leave it at that.

Look.Linger.Love
I just found look linger love and I have been hooked ever since. She has the blog I want mine to aspire to be:) Not to mention she has that classy southern charm down! And she lives in Charleston which is one of my favorite cities in the South! I am working on convincing the hubby to put in for SC when we pick bases! (We are Army ROTC now by the way! It's a whole new world for us Devil Dogs!) I loved NC and they are so close that I am already completely sold on the idea of moving back to the east coast! (That's her house by the way! Don't you just love it?)

It is one of my Christmas presents and I have been waiting not so patiently for it for what feels like forever! Mine doesn't say love. Mine has my baby girl's initials- AKG on one side and my hubby's- RWG on the other! It is one of my all time favorite pieces of jewelry that I have ever seen and it is SO simple!

Next up...you have these wonderful dog food storage containers from Harry Barker! So simple and classy! I am going to be buying the largest size, only fifty eight dollars, in the next few days for my pups. I haven't committed to which design yet! I have the ever so practical plastic storage container with wheels but it is in sad shape! And the plastic ones run about thirty dollars so for a bit more you get a much classier version! That is (hopefully) more puppy proof than the others! Bonus- they come with a nice aluminum food scoop!

Bacon wrapped potato bites
To wrap up my post of randomness I give you bacon wrapped potato bites! With sour cream dipping sauce no less! YUM! I haven't tried these yet but I am planning on making them this weekend sometime! We will be visiting my in-laws and I know my father in law will think they are as good an idea as I do! I'll let you know how they turn out (although really, what could go wrong when potatoes and bacon are combined?)

Oh and one more thing...Chassity over at look linger love made bacon chocolate chip cookies. Sounds weird at first but the more I think about them the more I think I am going to be stopping by the store tomorrow and getting some bacon to try these out! I love the whole salty and sweet combination and these definitely deliver there!
(You cook your bacon crisp and let it drain and dry and then crumble it. Then roll your cookie dough into balls and press them into the bacon so they flatten out and have bacon pieces on the bottom. Then bake as per their directions!)
Maybe we'll just have ourselves a regular bacon party this weekend!:)

I've been meaning to post these for a while...it was obviously fall (Halloween day actually) so it's been a long time coming. One of my all time favorite breakfast/brunch places in ATX is Fliphappy Crepes. Yum! I am more a fan of their sweet crepes, but the hubby LOVES their savory ones. I think the one he had on this day was some sort of ham, caramelized onion and cheese mix. I don't remember exactly. I had a peanut butter, chocolate hazelnut and banana crepe. Oh so good!
Fliphappy is sort of hidden down off South Lamar. It's actually in an empty lot beside one of the huge new loft buildings in an old airstream. They have weird hours too. You kind of have to know when they're open and plan to go rather than stop by on a whim! But it's totally worth it:) Makes me want to hop in the car and go right now, except we're snowed in and they're probably not open! But it sure sounds good!
Maybe when it warms up a bit and Texas tempts us with Spring again we'll go and get Fliphappy! hah!

Done Son

The before...sort of! I forgot to take actual pictures but you get the point. Except imagine it one three year old and three moves later. Looking a little rough around the edges! (And everywhere else!)

The chairs now. Sooo much better. They're virtually impossible to take pictures of! The color isn't a stark black. It's called Green Black by Sherwin Williams and I love it! It's a softer more velvety black:)

And the table! I sanded it down and then I did a happy dance! Such beautiful wood underneath the black finish! Yay! The whole thing turned out that way and I couldn't be happier with it! It's like having a whole new set of furniture for about twenty dollars in paint and 20 hours of sanding! Ok, not 20 but it felt like it! It absolutely made my day! And the hubby's too since I won't be going and spending hundreds of dollars on new furniture any time soon!

On My Mind

This house has been on my mind lately! Stonecroft Homes in Kentucky built it. I am tempted to move there just so they can build one for me too:) I love that it looks like it has been there forever! Old, but new? Does that make sense? Either way I am jealous of the people that get to call this house home.

In unrelated news I decided to refinish our dining table. It's a set we bought from Target when we got married and I am attached to it, but it has seen better days as far as its finish goes. I crossed my fingers and sanded away and it actually has beautiful dove tailed wood underneath its original black paint! I am set on finishing it and the chairs tomorrow! We are supposed to get cold rainy weather next week so I have no choice! I am SO excited to have a nice table and chairs again instead of one covered in dings and scratches from life with a three year old!

Do you love these as much as I do? I have the last one and I literally wear it at least five days a week! I LOVE it! The brass is the perfect mix of shiny but worn! Nobletown Vintage makes such wonderful pieces...earrings as well as necklaces, but I am more of a necklace person (obviously!) And they are all under or right at 30 dollars...which is quite reasonable to me! So go forth and shop and give yourself something to look forward to for the rest of the week! I know I am:)

Lately all I have wanted to do is pack up my bags and head out. (With my family of course!) All I want to read is travel blogs; see this post for a couple of my new favorites. All I want to shop for is clothes to wear on my imaginary trip! New York has been catching my interest lately. With Ava Kate, it is easier to travel in the US than to hop on a looong flight:) Now in a few years, watch out world here we come!

So in my constant perusing of the internet in search of the perfect travel without actually traveling wardrobe I found these three dresses that I think I need to make mine! And they have the bonus of working for work as well as play so I think I can justify them! Oh and that cardigan up there was just marked down at Anthropologie and I have a 25 dollar gift certificate that is going to make it all the more affordable :)

Well, we've been back from New Orleans for a few weeks and I finally decided, with much prodding by my better half to make one of my prized Bruce's Southern Style Bread Pudding mixes for dessert tonight! It is by far the best bread pudding I have ever had! And the easiest to make hands down...hah! We had it the first time at my sister's house last summer. I was floored that it was a mix. In fact I was convinced that no one wanted to share the recipe with me.

But everyone stood unanimous that it was in fact a mix. When we got home I decided to go and get some because it had been at least two days since I had had it and that was far too long in my book. But, sad fact, I have yet to find it in the great state of Texas.

Long story short, we were in Louisiana again and I knew it had to be mine. I even forked over more than 5 dollars a box (I bought two). That combined with its impossible to find in Texas status caused me to turn into a hoarder and refuse to "waste" one of my boxes:)

I have to say though, I am glad that my hubby convinced me because eating it is even better than hoarding it.

For those of you who decide to drive to Louisiana to buy it, Market Basket is way more expensive than anywhere else. Just commit and buy it in the French Quarter at the French Market. (Unlike me, who was convinced it was marked up!) It is totally worth any price though.

Mr and Mrs Globe Trot- This makes me want to sell everything we own and just go! See more of the world and enjoy the many amazing places in it! ( I especially want to go to Cappadocia, Turkey! They such wonderful pictures of this little town!)

A Cup of Jo- This is an old favorite of mine but she always surprises me with something I didn't know I needed or needed to know until that moment!

So while everyone else is writing posts about the New Year and their resolutions and meeting this year head on and such... I am not. I am tired. I am feeling blah and I am not in the mood to do this. I tried. I am still trying but it is a seemingly insurmountable obstacle right now. I need a new mindset.
A new and more positive outlook. Not sure where to find it or even how to go about getting it but I know I am in dire need of one. Maybe tomorrow though. Because tonight I am just ready for bed and kisses from my sweet little family who love me in spite of my "blahness" this new year!

Happy 2011

Well, 2010 was wonderful, but I am pretty darn excited for 2011. I am excited to work out more and try out my Pure Barre DVD. I'm excited to move forward in school and finish my last semester. (And then start again on another degree...ha!) I am most excited to see what this year brings for my little family.

And...on a totally unrelated note I am super excited to get a new i-phone so I can get this cover! I love Kate Spade and I am totally in love with her phone covers:) I think this one would be the perfect way to keep up the New Year energy in the following months! The green is such a happy color!

Well, it took us about a million tries but we finally got this one, single picture that we both liked for the Christmas card. We used Hallmark to make them this year because I'm lazy and I think that I am going to be lazy every year. You pick your design, import your pictures and pick a cheesy saying from their offerings (I was even too lazy to come up with my own! haha) then you're done. I even put all of our addresses into their website so they would send them for me to. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me! They even got there before Christmas! :)

We will be doing our usual circus routine from family to family tomorrow but I am strangely looking forward to it! Then we are headed to New Orleans on the 27th! I am super excited about that:) It's a late birthday present to me:)

Taking Down the Tree!

I want to do this! I can't tell you how bad I want to paint a tree in the corner and then stare at it lovingly! Is it weird to stare at a wall with a tree lovingly? I think not:)
I really do love this idea! I kind of want to do it and then leave it up all year long! Why not? Or if you paint over it then you could create a new one every year! Like a wonderful personal work of art each Christmas season! I just wonder if I can convince my Hubby it is a good idea to take down the fake tree and paint a paint by numbers esque one on the wall instead?

Have you seen this line at Target? It's designed by "Sonny Monroe" from Disney's Sonny with a Chance. Now I'm not going to lie, it's not my favorite Disney show and yes, I do have a favorite Disney Show:) But the clothes? They're awesome! Well most of them! I think there are a few pieces that are a little um...much for little girls but the tops especially are so cute! They are also pretty reasonable. This jacket was around $24, the dog shirt was $12 and the sparkle sweatshirt was $14. For those prices I am tempted to buy everything they have in AK's size (within reason of course!) It is definitely worth checking out though! Especially if you are like me and you have inadvertantly made your child fashion conscious at a young age.

I've been trying my hardest to get my Halloween decorations up but I seem to be adding more things to make to my list rather than crossing things off:) I changed out my candles in the basket on my table. The Target dollar spot has the best scrap-booking paper! It's usually seasonal but when you can find it, it is wonderful! That's what I used to cover the candles.

This package came with eight sheets and six of them were sparkly! Love them!

Then I had a whim to make a knock off of Martha's wreath!

I found my corn husks at the grocery store. They're for making tamales. They were $1.97 and I think I can make many, many more wreaths with what was in this package. And this package was the smallest that they had! Besides hot gluing my finger to the wreath form (that I got at the Dollar Tree) this project was easy and pain free:)

Then I moved on to this little fall topiary. I saw one like it a Hobby Lobby and I loved it but it was more than I wanted to pay. (Next time I go I'll take a picture of it)

So, my pictures of how I did it are out of order... of course and I am totally not fighting blogger to re do them so...this is after I spray painted the whole thing black and glued my dollar tree pumpkins/gourds together in a stack.

Ha! here is before I spray painted it:)

And here is where I started to wire it together.

And...here is the beginning with my garden stakes (.89 at Home Depot) and my wire ($3 at Home Depot). If you want more in depth directions I will gladly re-order my pictures and do a tutorial! It was way easy and cost me about a third of what the original one cost!

Is it October First Yet?

Ok I know that tomorrow it is officially October and that only hardcore Halloween lovers like myself would start decorating for Halloween in September but I can't help myself! There are only 4 weeks in October and that's not nearly enough time to enjoy it if you ask me:)
Ava Kate and I made this recipe for {Witch's Brew} and I am so in love with it! We have it hanging on the front door to welcome everyone in:) It was super easy. I sprayed my cookie sheet (which are crazy cheap at the dollar store and garage sales) with spray adhesive, and cut my Halloween scrap book paper into random sizes so it looked a little like a quilt. Then I stuck it all down, spraying more as needed. Then I made up the recipe as I went with the letters that I had available. I mixed stamps with stickers. Oh and for the title I printed it out on white paper and then I tore the edges and inked them so it looked burned. Then I glued everything down on top (each ingredient is on a separate piece of paper) and after that set a minute I mod podged the whole thing! I added a few buttons and little bats and ghosts and then I was done. Oh and I put together a ton of Halloween ribbon and tied it and glued it to the back for a hanger.
The little witches hat on the corner is from Michaels and up until we made this it was on a clippie that Ava wore last year as part of her witch costume. She wouldn't keep a hat on her head so I made the little tiny hat into a bow and put it on a headband for her. Worked like magic and she was ADORABLE! At least I thought so:)

Fall in LOVE

I've got a bit more up but I haven't taken pictures yet so this will have to do for now. It's the world's easiest garland and it is super cute in person. It almost looks real!

Oh and it's a whopping 78 dollars! That's a sweet price for such a sweet light!

Lately all I can think about is the many little (haha) projects that I want to do around our house. Maybe it's Fall coming on and I want it to be cozy for Winter? Not sure but if I had my way, tomorrow would start with a stop for coffee...

Then I would head to SW to get a gallon of Comfort Gray...love it! I have been waiting for the right time to paint our bedroom and I am thinking that now is it! After I paint (with my super human powers it would only take me a few minutes!) I would go ahead and re-do the kitchen floors with this:) (Which would miraculously be on sale and would only cost me 20 dollars!)

I love cork floors! Our kitchen floors are looking shabby at best. I think these cork floors are just the ticket to un-shabbify them! And then since we are living in my fantasy and I can do whatever I want I would continue on with my house makeover in a day theme and refinish the rest of our floors. I am in love with the super shiny wood floors I am seeing. Ours were finished with more of a matte tone that shows EVERY speck of dust, dirt, food, playdough, etc that we throw at it. I think a nice glossy poly is just the ticket to my cleaning woes:)

So, I'm off to bed to dream about my ideal Thursday! I bet at least one thing will surely be checked off my list tomorrow and we all know which one it is!

Breakfast this morning:
Banana bread made with this recipe (I had to cook it a good hour over the time it suggested. Maybe since she's in Utah and I'm in Texas? Not sure...but still super yummy.)

Oh and I made my baby girl's morning by adding Nutella to our slices!

Heavenly on a rainy day like today!
